North-West Mounted Police at Sounding Lake

The following write-up is from The Lantern Years: Buffalo Park to Neutral Hills, page 175. No author is credited in the book for this article.

Royal North West Mounted Police cairn where the outpost was located.
Another view of the area where the R.N.W.M.P. outpost was situated.

At the base of this R.N.W.M.P. cairn is a plaque commemorating Maurice (Sully) Charles Sullivan, a World War II veteran who apparently grew up in this area, so beautiful and desolate. He was one of the people responsible for preserving history of Sounding Lake and erecting these cairns.

Sully’s memorial plaque at the base of the R.N.W.M.P. cairn indicates that he is interred here.
