Why We Were Formed and What We’ve Done

“It is remarkable how closely the history of the apple tree is connected with that of man.”

– Henry David Thoreau

The Amisk-Hughenden Historical Society was formed for the express purpose of compiling and publishing a history book of the Amisk, Hughenden and Rosyth areas of East Central Alberta.

Since the book launch in 2006 our focus has widened somewhat as we have supported the following: Hughenden Lakeview Cemetery, Amisk Park Lutheran Cemetery and Amisk Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. When 100 years was celebrated for Hughenden Public School in 2011, we donated keepsake medallions to the school. The Holy Trinity Anglican Church of Hughenden Preservation Committee was formed to prevent deterioration of the beautiful historic old church which celebrated 100 years in 2014.

The above information was excerpted from the Village of Amisk’s website.
